Talk to a Specialist →The anchor: Renown Health
Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno is Northern Nevada's only nonprofit academic health system and the region's only Level II trauma center — adult and pediatric — serving roughly a million patients across 17 counties and 100,000 square miles between Sacramento and Salt Lake City. It runs the area's only children's hospital and only Level III NICU, with heart, cancer, robotic surgery and advanced imaging on site. It's affiliated with the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, which is what gives a city this size a genuine academic-medicine bench. Renown also operates Renown South Meadowsin south Reno — convenient to the Damonte Ranch communities.
The other systems
- Carson Tahoe Health (Carson City) — the second nonprofit system, with Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center and Sierra Surgery Hospital. This is the primary system for Quail Run and the Carson City/Douglas area.
- Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center (Reno, Prime Healthcare) — full-service hospital near downtown.
- Northern Nevada Medical Center (Sparks) and Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center (south Reno) — the for-profit Northern Nevada Health System hospitals, convenient to the Sparks communities.
- Carson Valley Medical Center (Gardnerville) — community hospital for the Carson Valley.
